Skipping Squares quilts

I have made two quilts using this quilt pattern by www.cluckclucksew.com.  The first I made for my mother-in-law for her birthday.  Her favorite color is yellow so I chose a really pretty yellow print and then used both a yellow and white solid.  After I laid out the blocks, I named it the egg yolk quilt - you'll see why....

 Here is the finished project.

The other quilt was made for a precious little boy named Caleb.  From the extra blocks I made a fabric storage box for the nursery.

Annual craft day project

Each year Libby and I host a craft day on the day after Thanksgiving.  This year we had a great project that we found on Pinterest.  We painted 2x4 blocks and decoupaged scrapbook paper onto them to create these cute home accents.

Here are a few of the completed projects -

This set is reversible so it can be used for Christmas and then all year round.  I took this set to our Bunko Christmas party and it was stolen until frozen.  Definitely a big hit.

My husband even got in on the fun and made a set for his Man Cave.

My daughter-in-law, Jessica, added a cute clothes pin to one block so that a picture can be added.  Jessica also made this cute reversible set for a Christmas gift for her Mom.  Love the leopard.

Another reversible set for Christmas with the family name and wedding date on the reverse.

The possibilities for these blocks are endless.  We also plan on using 4x4 blocks on some future projects.

Catching up!

Oh my.  It has been nearly one year since I posted anything on the blog.  Luckily I have had some crafting time over the past year, just not the time to post about it.  I had several projects for Christmas this year and one of the most fun was making "Click-It" Bags for my nieces and nephews.

Puppy t-shirts

Now days even our pets need stylish clothing.  I made these adorable t-shirts for the puppies in my life -

This is Bailey.  She is all girl and had to have pink!!

And this cutie is Bentley.  He has since outgrown his t-shirt so I am going to have to make another.
Here is a fun video of Bentley attacking my husband Robby.  He is a feisty little varmint!!

Embroidered Jacket

I found this fleece jacket at the store and thought it would be super cute to embroider a stacked monogram on it.  I wish I had a picture of Kooper in his jacket!!  Can't wait to make more of these for baby gifts!!  I added material to the elbow patches that were already on the jacket to finish things off.

Annual craft day

Last year, Libby and I started a new tradition - an annual crafting day on the Friday after Thanksgiving.  We thought it would be a great way to spend time with friends and family and get started on some Christmas projects...AND avoid that crazy shopping called Black Friday!!

This year I decided that we would make some stackable gift boxes.  I downloaded the pattern from Northern Girl Stamper. The pattern is from her 20 Days of Christmas Gift Giving Book.  There are some great projects in this and I will be making many more of them.

Libby and I invited several friends and family and had a great day!!!
Here's Jessica searching for just the right bling for her box!!

Libby looks deep in thought about where she is going to put the tape!

Jessica's Nana, Jackie, my Mom and Jessica's sister, Jenna all look very serious about their crafts!

Jessica's Mom, Kim making sure she gets the direction right before cutting.

The Tiffany table - friend Tiffany and cousin Tiffany!!
Everyone was hard at work creating some beautiful boxes and here is what they came up with...
Mom is going to fill her boxes with waffle cookies - Can't wait!!! I think we need a bigger box though!

Jenna made these beautiful snowflake boxes that everyone loved!

Kim made a great set with red and black and snowflakes - beautiful - my favorite colors!!

Tiffany made personalized boxes for gifts - love 'em.  I am going to copy this idea for the great nieces and nephews!!

My beautiful daughter in law with her set including swirls and bling!! Did you notice the chocolate bar on top???

Nana made a great set in black, white, and red and a little bling!!
Libby with just one of the cute sets she made. Shhh, the others are a secret!!

Baby quilt

One of my favorite things to make is baby gifts.  I love creating burp rags, bibs, blankets and especially quilts.  Our friends recently welcomed their beautiful baby girl Annalyn to the world and I just had to make her a special quilt with her name on it.
I used a pattern that I bought several years ago and modified the center block so I could add her name.  The pattern is called Lucky Stars by Atkinson Designs.

Here is the finished quilt. I just love the colors that the Mom picked out!!

I used super soft minky on the back.  I just love how the minky fabric feels.  The quilting showed up well on the back showcasing the star design.

Happy Birthday Annalyn!!!  Hope you love snuggling under your quilt for many years.
